Scottish Painter John Bellany

Born in Port Seton, Scotland in 1942, John Bellany, studied in Edinburgh College of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. According to Bellany, as a fishermans son, the anchors of his life were his Calvinist upbringing and the stories surrounding the 1881 Eyemouth fishing disaster. This is reflected in his work as reigious imagery and fishing boats frequently appear. John Bellanys work was recently exhibited in the Peppercanister Gallery in Dublin.
